CASE FILE #26-1013
Devil's Hemlock Trailhead – Stanwood National Forest

On the afternoon of June 6, 2026, local resident Sarah Whitmore and her two children, Emma (10) and Jacob (8), set out for what should have been a routine hike along the Devil's Hemlock Trail.

When the family failed to return home that evening, search crews launched an extensive operation covering more than 2,000 acres of forest. No trace of the family was found.

Weeks later, investigators recovered a damaged cellphone buried beneath a fallen cedar nearly three miles from the marked trail. The device contained fragments of video recorded during the family's final hours in the forest.

The final recording lasts just 37 seconds.

No one has seen the Whitmore family since.

For the first time, the recovered footage has been released to the public.
